NEW YORK ­ Few artists earn the enduring adoration of fans around the planet. John Denver is one of the deserving ones. He is well-respected not only for his folk-rock compositions that remain radio favorites decades later, but also for his environmental activism, and popular TV and big-screen appearances opposite co-stars as varied as George Burns, Placido Domingo and The Muppets.
